Poem of the Month: A Shropshire Lad XL by A. E. Housman

Into my heart an air that kills
From yon far country blows
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?

That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

A Shropshire Lad, a collection of 63 poems by A. E. Housman, was published in 1896 in England.

  1. Nope. ‘Normal’ in that country of lost content will not come again. Fini. No matter how hard the party of nostalgia tries.
